14th June 2013
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: SW/S
Wind Stength: F2-4
Surf / Sea State: bumpy/swell
Air Temperature: ok
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: Sunny
Max Speed: 23.4 kts (knots - unless stated otherwise)

Turned up about 3pm Maker and Chris S planing on big sails. Had to work and after rigging 8.7 / 146L Excite ride pro, the wind died by 4pm, nearly a no sail. Started to rig the Phantom 380 when, Maker and Chris left whilst me and Ian smelt the breeze which kicked in for a couple of hours as I grabbed my 146 and ditch the long bd. - absolutely brilliant!
The wind switched to southerly as forecast so the early problem of staying high went and you could sail anywhere.
Long runs out to sea and stonking reaches towards the point. Had intend to beat to the pier, but the sea was pretty rough near the point, so hung out at the dip.
Went over powered for 1/2 hour and was getting exhausted as the wind was now strong. Fortunately the board and sail are pretty forgiving so hung on till 6pm when my arms gave up.
The sea was huge near the river mouth so glad I didn't drop the big rig, wish I was on the 7.7 for that hour.
Used a new 50cm MFC RC2 race fin and its bloody brilliant. Very fast and I had to push it deliberately to get it to spin when sheeted hard on the 8.7M - def have to get another for the baby 120L excite pro. Freeride fins are not as good as race/slalom, thats for sure.
The North shoxs again came into its own today, ironing out the run from the river to the point and back. My board normally bounce badly in these seas or the nose wants to bury in the back of the wave. The shoxs seem to allow the nose to rise just enough to clear anything.
Squiz was still out on the horizon on his long bd, when me and Ian quit as the wind died just after 6.0pm.
A long sauna with iced tea and lemonade made life a beach :) Another top if somewhat surprise sail.
